Rick Penney

Great to re-connect with you on the b-sphere! I absolutely agree with you about Chandler, as do many. I got to hear him in Seattle since Amber and I went to the reform and resurge conference and sort of made a vacation out of it. He is doing a really good job doing some authentic ministry in the bible belt, which can be just as hard as places like seattle for its own reasons, as you well know. It's good to see you going strong - great blog!

That sermon from the Resurgence conference was great. I'm really gonna have to add him to the list of guys to listen to. His thoughts on Hebrews and how Christ really knows intimately the struggles we are going through becuase He lived them, has really helped me out in the last 24 hours. If you have any more guys like Matt you're hiding, let me know.

I liked Matt Chandler's talk so much that I went to The Village's website, saw that he'd done a series on Ecclesiastes, and immediately listened to one of those, too. (I'd done a "study" on Eccl. earlier this year with my friend Beth in which we basically came to two conclusions: 1) all is vanity, a chasing after the wind and 2) that's all we understood... I was anxious to hear somebody making more sense of it.) Those two combined led me to the iTunes podcast The Village has... I now have 35 of his sermons to plow through. I'm set for awhile, and I'm SO excited. :-)

David - everyone else I'm listening to (Josh Harris, Piper, Driscoll, Alistair Begg, Bart Garrett, Perimeter's podcast) are guys you're probably already familiar with. Oh, and I'm thankful for how God used Matt's message in a timely way.

Whitney - I haven't allowed myself to listen to Matt's sermons on Ecclesiastes since I'm planning on preaching through Ecclesiastes next summer. Got to get it in my head before I go listen to other guys. I have no doubt that you'll be blessed...
